Welcome

Before I was a professional bowl turner I was a professional cabinetmaker, and before that a professional sculptor, so over the years I have learned a lot about color and shape, and about working and finishing wood, all skills that I use every day in this craft.

All my bowls are made of reclaimed wood that comes from trees that have been taken down because of age or construction, or have been knocked down in storms, and which would otherwise end up in a firewood pile or the city dump.

 I think of each bowl as a collaboration between me and the wood.  Every piece of steel looks like every other piece of steel, but every piece of wood is unique, and it is my job to shape the wood to bring out that unique beauty.
